Une création d'EPO Trio avec Rishab Prasanna
EPO Trio est un ensemble instrumental où confluent les musiques du monde et le Jazz « Ancient to the future » pour reprendre les termes chers à l’Art Ensemble Of Chicago et qui nous correspondent totalement.
Il nous semblait naturel de rencontrer une musique millénaire comme la musique traditionnelle indienne, comme d’autres l’avaient fait avant nous (Charlie Mariano, Shakti, et plus récemment Zakir Hussain et Dave Holland…)
La question était donc de concevoir un terrain de jeu entre ces deux univers. Un monde où ces deux approches de l’improvisation pourraient se rencontrer, se compléter, se confronter, se télescoper pour construire une sorte de «troisième voie».
Il y eut alors la rencontre avec Rishab Prasanna qui nous semblait être une des personnes capables de rendre cette envie possible. Mais il nous fallait encore inventer un cadre, un écrin pour cette création.
C’est alors que s’est imposé le thème du voyage, qu’il soit géographique ou intérieur, personnel ou musical. Une idée de cheminement, de passage, mais aussi de rencontre de soi et de l’autre. Du Soi à l’intérieur de l’autre et de l’autre à l’intérieur du Soi.
Ce quatuor jouera de nouvelles compositions pensées autour de ce projet et de son instrumentation. Nous espérons qu’il vous donnera envie de l’aider à voir le jour et à s’épanouir sur les routes du monde.

EPO Trio is an instrumental ensemble where world music and Jazz "Ancient to the future" converged to use the terms dear to the Art Ensemble Of Chicago, and which correspond to us totally.
It seemed natural to us to meet a millenary music like traditional Indian music as others had done before us (Charlie Mariano, Shakti, and more recently Zakir Hussain and Dave Holland...).
The question was therefore to design a playground between these two universes. A world where these two approaches to improvisation could meet, complement each other, confront each other, telescope each other to build a kind of "third way".
Then there was the meeting with Rishab Prasanna, who seemed to us to be one of the people capable of making this desire possible. But we still had to invent a framework, a case for this creation.
It was then that the theme of travel, be it geographical or interior, personal or musical, became evident. An idea of a journey, of passage, but also of meeting oneself and the other. Of the Self within the other and of the other within the Self.
This quartet will play new compositions based on this project and its instrumentation. We hope that it will make you want to help it come to be and blossom on the roads of the world.
